CHARLIE GRIFFIN admits he is playing the best football of his Chippenham Town career and the in-form hitman aims to shoot down one of his former clubs tomorrow.

The Bluebirds continue to look for their first home win in the Dr Martens Premier Division this season when Havant and Waterlooville visit Hardenhuish Park.

And Griffin, who has scored in six of Town's last eight games, hopes to continue his hot streak against the Hawks, who he was loaned to when out of favour at Woking.

"I spent a month at Havant a couple of seasons ago," he said.

"They've got a lovely set-up and have spent quite a bit of money but considering the players they've got, they've not really lived up to expectations.

"We played them at their place recently and should have beaten them but had to settle for a 1-1 draw."

After a brief spell at the top of the table, Havant have slumped to 13th.

They meet a Chippenham side who are enjoying their best spell of the campaign and Griffin, alongside new strike partner James Constable, has played a major part in the renaissance.

"I'm playing the best I have since I was at Woking," said Griffin.

"Steve White has given me a new lease of life since coming to the club.

"It's great to work with a manager who was a top striker and can pass on his experience."

With Griffin and 19-year-old Constable on fire, Merthyr Tydfil target Martin Paul will be on the bench again and Adie Mings has been allowed to join Gloucester on loan.

Wayne Thorne is back in contention after shaking off an ankle injury, but Colin Towler faces a fitness test after picking up a knock in Tuesday's 4-1 Dr Martens Cup win at Tiverton.
