THREE 'new signings' already on the County Ground books should give Town a further boost as Andy King's men look to continue their charge towards play-off glory.

While other managers are starting to moan about injuries and suspensions, King is looking at a full complement of players being available for Saturday's outing to Blackpool.

Town's 2-1 victory at Notts County extended the club's unbeaten start to 2004 and saw them climb to fourth in Division Two.

It wasn't a 'classic' by any means but the Town boss has warned that promotion isn't always a pretty business.

King, who led his team to a fourth win in five matches, said: "I told the players afterwards that that is how play-off places are maintained and won.

"You need to be able to pick up scrappy results away from home.

"Victory gives us a great springboard to go on and achieve something this season. We are fourth in the league with 18 games to go.

"They have come through another test. "All you can keep doing to a football team is keep testing them and if they come through and you run out of games then the miracle happens."

It is no 'miracle' that Town find themselves in such a lofty position but efforts to stay there will be boosted by the return to action of three senior players this week.

Club captain Andy Gurney and striker Rory Fallon have completed their suspensions while midfielder Stefani Miglioranzi's groin injury is likely to have improved sufficiently to make the trip to Bloomfield Road.

King said: "We should begin to get even better now as Gurney and Fallon are returning from suspension and hopefully Miglioranzi will return from injury.

"So, all of a sudden we have nearly got three brand new signings.

"My side will be greatly strengthened with those three players coming back and I have got to say that they are three quality players.

"Fallon will be involved with this club for a long time because he is only 21 and will probably figure in my plans towards the end of the season.

"Miglioranzi and Gurney are regulars anyway, so it is strengthening my squad again. It is a lovely choice to have."

However, with the team having continued to win without them, the 'problem' for the manager is whether to disrupt his starting XI in order to accommodate them.

David Duke has stepped into Gurney's shoes at right back and set up both goals at Meadow Lane on Saturday.

Miglioranzi faces the task of breaking up the Steve Robinson-Matt Hewlett partnership in the centre of the park while Fallon faces the daunting task of trying to muscle in on the attacking action.

Tommy Mooney's late winner at Notts County took his total for the season to 14, leaving him tied with Sam Parkin in the race for Town's golden boot.

The pair will come up against the division's leading hot-shot on Saturday. Blackpool's Scott Taylor has netted 24 times in all competitions.
