Return . . Iffy Onuora is back tonight with TranmereANDY KING is anxious to avoid a promotion-denting 'Iffy' defeat by Tranmere Rovers at the County Ground tonight.

Victory for Town would stretch the club's unbeaten run to 10 matches and defy the pessimists who insist that a defeat is 'inevitable' at some point.

That day may come but King is anxious to delay it as long as possible.

However, the task will be made more difficult by the likely appearance of Iffy Onuora in Tranmere's starting line-up tonight.

The 36-year-old joined Rovers on a free transfer from Grimsby Town last week and King is anxious to avoid laying out the welcome mat to his old friend.

Before scoring 25 goals for Town in the late 1990s, Onuora spent two seasons with King at Mansfield.

The Town boss said: "Iffy was with me at Mansfield but was sold without my say so. It was the end for me, the final nail in the coffin in terms of arguments with the chairman.

"Iffy's a gentleman but I won't be too happy if he causes us a problem tonight."

King believes he has the strikers in his side to make it an unhappy return for the veteran.

The Town boss revealed that Rory Fallon would have played at Port Vale on Saturday but Tommy Mooney is expected to start tonight.

King said: "I wasn't sure that Tommy could play three games in a week and wanted to give him a rest.

"I also needed to give Rory Fallon a game, to involve him as he will be part of the play-off push. There's no doubt about that. He will figure somewhere down the line.

"Port Vale away was the ideal opportunity, on a big pitch and against three small centre halves.

"Tommy Mooney is our top goalscorer though and certainly gives us something at home. That may be the choice I make.

"Whatever the choice, it's about us. Can we put together the sort of performance we've shown of late and keep the run going?

"If you keep the players and keep the belief, why should it come to an end?

"The fans are supporting us in terms of numbers and noise and it's geared to us continuing our rich vein of form.

"The players are enjoying the challenge

rather than shrinking from the pressure to succeed. I think they're actually growing in their belief. You can see they want it."

As for Onuora, he is looking forward to his County Ground return.

He said: "Andy King is a great bloke and I'm so pleased to see Swindon doing well under him.

"I hope they have a great end to the season, but only after this game.

"I met Tommy Mooney briefly when he was on loan at Sheffield United last season and I know he's done well. Sam Parkin too has scored a lot of goals.

"We haven't got a bad little side here too though and I'm out to make a good impression on my debut."
