Ref. 29344-26LACY drawers worn by pop-diva Madonna have gone on sale at a Swindon store.

The knickers, which were worn by the actress and singer in the film version of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Evita have gone on sale for £1,950 at the Infinitely Better shop in the Brunel Centre.

Shop owner Steve Goss said there had been much interest in the unusual item.

"Some people will say that buying these things is a little bit sordid. But surprisingly the most interest we have had in this item is from women fans of Madonna."

The underwear is based on a 50s contemporary design, which would have been worn at the time the film was set and is packaged with a signed copy of one of Madonna's records.

Mr Goss is also selling a pair of Kylie Minogue's hotpants worn on the ITV show, An Audience with Kylie, which was broadcast in October 2001. They cost £995.

Hollywood fans can also literally buy the shirts off their favourite stars' back.

Shirts worn by Welsh actor Anthony Hopkins and Bruce Willis are also on sale.

The Hopkins T-shirt was worn in Red Dragon and can been seen when Hannibal is interviewed by Edward Norton. It's on sale for £1,295.

Bruce Willis' Hawaiian shirt featured in the film 12 Monkeys and was used in one of the final scenes in which Willis was shot in an airport lounge. There's even a hole in the shirt where the bullet entered.

But this piece of movie history will set you back £1,595.

"One of the first things people ask is whether the shirts have been washed," explained Steve Goss, owner of the shop.

"They have but are still superb collectors items. These are big names in the film business and there has been a lot of interest in both pieces."

The shop is one of 12 members of the exclusive Movie Props Association which works with movie studios to pass on items of memorabilia for retail.

Last year a pair of Dolce and Gabbana shoes which also belonged to Madonna were sold at the shop while signatures including those of Adolf Hitler, Beatle John Lennon and actor Steve McQueen have also been sold.

Mr Goss said: "We have many exciting things going on at the moment but it is amazing to see people come into the shop and say wow.

"It is a great feeling even with regular customers they still say it."

The shop is continuing to get visits from the stars. Next week, Gary Lockwood and Keir Dullea of 2001: A Space Odyssey are to visit on Thursday.
