Ref. 29276-08Dancers from a Swindon dance and performing arts school have a lot to celebrate having notched up a host of medals and trophies at a recent festival.

Around 20 students from the Tanwood School of Dance and Performing Arts, based in Dowling Street, entered the Cotswold Dance Festival at Ridgeway School in Wroughton. Between them they won 62 medals and 15 trophies.

Pollyann Tanner, director of Tanwood, was delighted with their achievements.

"They worked so hard and gained so many trophies,'' she said.

On Monday the dancers celebrated their first birthday at the new dance studio in Dowling Street with a party.

"Our first birthday party is the beginning of a series of celebrations leading up to Tanwood's 60th birthday and anniversary show in November,'' said Pollyann. The show runs from November 3 to 5 at the Wyvern Theatre.

Any former dance school pupil is welcome to join the celebrations of both Tanwood's anniversary and the birthday of its founder, Pollyann's mother Mollie Tanner, who is 76 and still running the agency side of Tanwood. Anyone interested in joining the show should contact 01793 523895.
