Ref. 29347-12A mother-of-two who walked part of a 50-mile trek in her flip-flops in memory of her father who had multiple sclerosis is urging others to sign up for the challenge.

Julie Kick, 35, of Tanners Close, Wootton Bassett, put her feet to the test and raised £670 when she took part in the BIGFoot challenge around Wiltshire for the MS Society two years ago.

And despite having to swap her walking boots for flip-flops due to excruciating blisters halfway round she is keen to sign up again to help raise more cash for people with MS.

Dental nurse Julie, who has two daughters, Zoe, 16, and Kimberley, 15, said: "I think it was the best thing I could have done.

"Unfortunately, three days before the walk my dad died suddenly from pneumonia aged just 56. I think I felt even more the need to do it if it went some way to helping someone else."

Julie met people with similar experiences of MS. She said it helped her come to terms with the loss of her father Peter Kick and realise she was not alone in her grief.

BIGFoot is back for the third year running. It will take place between August 20 and 22.
