SALISBURY City boss Nick Holmes has been named as one of the players taking part in the testimonial for former Southampton favourite Danny Wallace.

The game, at The Friends Provident St Mary's Stadium, will raise money for Wallace, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, and will feature a host of Saints heroes from the past and present. Holmes played alongside the forward in the 1980s as did Wallace's brothers, Rodney and Ray, who will also figure in the game on Monday, May 17. They made history as the first set of three brothers to play for the same top-flight side.

Holmes has fond memories of his former team-mate: "Danny was very quick. He was a very useful player who couldn't be shaken off the ball. Anything we can do to help him is great because he has been struggling with his illness for some time now. It's really sad."

Matt Le Tissier, Francis Benali, Jimmy Case, Alan Ball and Tim Flowers are among the stars who will turn out, and there may even be some names from another of Wallace's former clubs, Manchester United, in the all-star XI that faces the Saints.
