SCREWFIX PREMIER DIVISION: DEVIZES Town boss Dave Hopkins is hoping to keep the momentum of his side's excellent 3-0 win over Bishop Sutton, despite having to cope with an enforced week's break.

With no game on Saturday he and fellow first teamers Nathan Sheridan and Gary Campbell played for the reserves against Melksham and all three were on target in a 4-2 win.

On Saturday Devizes face fifth-placed Bridport with Hopkins waiting anxiously on the fitness of striker Justin Porter, who has fluid on the knee, and Marcus Woollen, who has an ankle injury.

Hopkins will definitely be without Kevin Coles who has work commitments.

Said Hopkins: "It is a sruggle keeping a settled side week in and week out. When you are not paying people it is difficult and I have to praise all the players who have played and trained for nothing this year.''

He is expecting a difficult time against Bridport but will be bolstered by the fact his team held them to 1-1 for an hour in the away game.

"We were overpowered after that and lost 4-1 but we will have a stronger back line on Saturday,'' he said.

With most of Devizes' remaining games against bottom eight sides Hopkins has his eye on a top eight finish. "We are really planning for next season now,'' he said. "I want to get a nucleus of a team for next year and hopefully get a budget to bring some new players in.''
