HELLENIC LEAGUE: PEWSEY Vale left Abingdon's North Court Road still looking for league survival points, after losing to Anaciet Odhiambo's 44th minute goal.

Vale got off to a poor start, giving away a free kick in the first minute just outside the box. But Richard Pierson's free kick went weakly past the far post.

A good chance fell to Craig Wall for the Vale after strong work by Paul Fisher in midfield. His found Matty Messenger who put Wall through, but he was denied a shot on goal by a last-ditch tackle from Julian McCalmon.

Pewsey keeper Lee Wilson made a great save, diving to his left after a shot on goal by Pierson took a cruel deflection on ten minutes.

Messenger was denied by Abingdon keeper Carl Wilkins when he received a perfect cross from Wall.

He stretched to tip away a shot that looked like it was going in at the top right hand corner and njured himself in the process.

More dozing at the back by Vale moment again by the Vale's defence allowed Matt Sheldon a shot on goal on 25 minutes but he thumped his shot into the side netting.

Pewsey fell behind to what was a soft goal by Odhiambo, with a tap in just before the break.

Pewsey brought on Barry Flippance for Paul Fisher on the 57 minute as they they pushed to get the equaliser.

A Tom Ritchie cross flashed across the goalmouth but no Vale player was able to get a touch on the ball.

Flippance could have equalised with just five minutes left whe he had time to control the ball and shoot but was denied Wilkins.

The ball reboundded back to Flippance but again the keeper reacted brilliantly to push the ball against the bar.

Pewsey keeper Wilson, crowned a great performance with his safe hands when he denied James Organ when the Abingdon player ran through from what looked to be a clearly offside position.

As the final minutes were played out the Vale pushed to draw level, but were unable to get a well deserved share of the points.
