A DEVIZES man who claims he was sexually abused as a schoolboy has launched a claim for £100,000 compensation.

He is suing the Caledonian Asylum, which trades as the Royal Caledonian Schools Trust, and housemaster Allen Meredith, for damages for his injuries.

According to a High Court writ just made publicly available, he suffered undisclosed personal injuries as a result of sexual abuse by Meredith when he was a boarder at the school between September 1988 and July 1994.

The writ says he was subjected to repeated abuse by Meredith over four years, between 1990 and 1994, and, as a result, he also underperformed at school.

The victim, who said he did not want to talk to the Press before consulting his lawyers, is suing the company, based in Bushey, Herts, which ran the schools, and Meredith, of Blakes Avenue, Witney, Oxfordshire, for damages for negligence, trespass to the person, and assault and battery.
