ERLESTOKE woman Emma-Louise Ryan could soon become a household name as a television programme previously shown on a digital channel is to be screened on BBC1.

Miss Ryan was one of 25 young women who took part in The Bachelor, a programme which was shown on BBC Three and ended last Friday.

The BBC has now decided to re-run the series and the first episode will be screened tomorrow at 11.35pm.

In the series Miss Ryan, 24, was one of the remaining two women who tried to win the heart of The Bachelor, 28-year-old Jamie Williams, but she lost out to her rival, called Jodi.

Miss Ryan said she was excited that the programme was to be shown on BBC1.

"I'm a bit nervous about it although very excited.

"It's great to think that lots more people will be able to watch it although it's a bit scary as well," said the office manager, who works in London.

"I don't necessarily want to be famous although if I was offered the chance to present a programme then I would have to consider it but I am not going to sell my soul to be famous.

"If it happens it happens, if not then I'm quite happy doing what I'm doing.

"My family and friends have watched the programme on BBC Three and said I came across really well.

"My mum cried every time I was on the TV which she said was because she was proud and emotional."

At the end of each episode of The Bachelor a number of girls leave the show after being rejected by Mr Williams, who is from Manchester and works in recruitment.

Miss Ryan and the other contestants went to glamorous locations all over Europe including the French Riviera where they went on dates with Mr Williams.

Mr Williams also visited Erlestoke and met Miss Ryan's family and friends.

They visited Miss Ryan's local pub, the George and Dragon, went to Longleat and played golf at Erlestoke Sands Golf Club.

Miss Ryan said: "Jamie said I had a wonderful family and said he felt very comfortable meeting them and enjoyed Erlestoke."

The pair went on a date to Scotland where they stayed in a castle near Edinburgh, had a helicopter ride and went shopping.

Miss Ryan said she was not disappointed that Mr Williams had not chosen her at the end of the series and they have remained friends.

She said: "I wasn't necessarily looking for love. I had such an amazing time all the way through the series.

"I had fun and it was great. Even if I had been picked I'm not sure Jamie is the guy for me.

"In a lot of ways he was my type but I need someone who is a bit more outgoing and spontaneous.

"Jamie is a lovely guy. He is very good looking, but hasn't got that extra little bit I was looking for."

Miss Ryan said the best thing about the programme was making friends with the other female contestants.

She said: "We have kept in touch and we ring each other and meet up regularly. We are such good friends."

Miss Ryan revealed that since the programme was made she has a boyfriend, who works in IT, but who is away travelling for six months.
