POLICE are investigating the death of 95-year-old Doris Strutt who was found dead at her home in Marlborough by a neighbour last week.
Mrs Strutt, who formerly ran a popular homemade sweet shop in the town, was found lying on the bathroom floor at her home in St John's Close. She was found by a neighbour who climbed in through a window.
Mrs Strutt used to take her dog for a walk every day and neighbours became concerned when she was not seen. Police were called and the widow's home and garden were sealed off while officers and scenes of crime investigators inspected the premises.
There had been two burglaries recently, but police last week found no signs of forced entry.
The Wiltshire Coroner, David Masters, was informed of the death and a post mortem was carried out at the Great Western Hospital, but the pathologist was unable to ascertain the cause of death.
A Home Office pathologist was called in to carry out a second post mortem. Police said later they were satisfied that Mrs Strutt's death was not suspicious. An inquest will be held.
