NOW I am aware of why the street wardens are so ineffectual.
Over two weeks ago two female wardens were approached on the junction of Whitbourne/ Kingswood avenues. An abandoned vehicle was pointed out to them. They proceeded to take details, also saying they had seen it before.
This vehicle was, and is parked illegally. It's been in this same position for over ten weeks. Nothing has been done about it.
I phoned the Abandoned Vehicle department, when I gave them the vehicle's index number.
I was told they had been informed a week or so ago, yet one abandoned on the Queens Drive slip road was removed after less than four weeks. The difference of course council or private area!
It beggars belief, the Road Traffic Act does not differentiate.
Preferential parking arrangements for council staff is nothing new, one of the perks of the job and been going on for years. You try it and the 'phantom-stickers' will have you!
The person's criticism of the actions of Frank Avenell is quite entitled to those opinions expressed. I am alongside Frank. Not being a young single parent I do not enjoy the annual increases in benefits.
We are on low fixed increases, way below the council tax increases we pay, which the other parties mentioned, perhaps do not pay!
