I have decided to deal with Steve Pascal's letter from last week privately. If Mr Pascall really did not understand my letter which seemed perfectly clear to most then he knows where to find me.

I am pleased however to have made him smile one needs to keep a sense of humour whether dealing with the council or me.

I will not be taking up his kind offer to view weeds about to grow in the pavement, as I have better things to do, having recently undergone major surgery in Great Western Hospital, Swindon. I would like to pause from campaigning for a moment and to say a huge thank you to the hospital staff. For ten days I received nothing but totally kind and efficient care. The atmosphere on Teal Ward was so friendly, staff at every level went out of their way to make me comfortable during what was a very frightening period of my life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Now, I may have a little time on my hands during my convalescence and soon shall be able to walk as far as Priory Gardens. Well, I did say just a pause in campaigning!
