I FIND it hard to believe that a refusal has come through from the council to build a skateboard park at Green Lane playing fields, Devizes. Is the meaning for playing fields not for sport and play?
Where are they going to propose? Somewhere inaccessible for youngsters to get to? The playing fields are surely far enough away from houses but close enough for children to walk.
During the last couple of weeks you cannot turn the television on without the news programmes and documentaries expressing how the government's intentions are to lower the numbers of obesity in children in England.
Is the government saying one thing and our council not helping towards these problems? We have now been two years without facilities. Have you seen an obese skateboarder?
My children do not partake in this sport but I would encourage any physical exercise. So please help these youngsters who have an interest, don't push them to the streets, don't push them back to the television and computers and obesity.
