CHIPPENHAM were caught napping as Frome raced in front after the home side conceded a penalty for holding the ball on the floor.

But with 15 minutes gone, Chippenham came back with an exciting try. Flanker Koroi Misimisi drove forward and offloaded the ball to Graham Treen.

Treen then passed to scrum-half Ryan Surry who committed the Frome defence. He then released the ball to winger Darren McMillan who went over to score. The conversion was added by fly-half Dan Reynolds.

McMillan then added his second try of the match after an exciting passage of play involving nearly the whole Chippenham team. Again Reynolds added the conversion.

After that, Chippenham then appeared to sit back on their lead and from this period of indifference, the Frome fly-half Norris scored a converted try to make it 14-10 to Chippenham.

On 41 minutes Chippenham's full-back David Spiers ran round the Frome defence before kicking ahead.

He gathered his own kick to score in the left hand corner. This gave Chippenham a 19-10 lead going into the half-time break.

The second half started with another Chippenham try, this time scored by number eight Andy Davey. The try came after a move which involved the entire back row. Reynolds added the conversion to make it 26-10.

The lead was further increased with a touch-down from Scott Sherratt from a catch and drive at a line-out.

This score put the game out of Frome's reach and gave Chippenham the win and the points.

Chippenham 3rd 22 Frome 3rd 10

CHIPPENHAM were strengthened by the return of several players from injury and they started the game in a positive manner.

Almost immediately an injury to James Cook and the inclusion of Paul Clifford at centre forced a change to the home team's pre-match tactics.

But happily for Chippenham Clifford made an immediate impact with a break from the opposition's 22 assisted by a pass from Paul Bates to open the scoring with a try.

Chippenham continued to put pressure on Frome but could not turn the pressure into points.

Finally further points were scored with a break off the back of a scrum by Chris Mooney.

Alun Jones created the overlap enabling Gareth Jones to go over for the try in the corner to make it 10-0 to Chippenham.

Just on the half-time whistle, Frome opened their account with a try from a defensive mistake by Chippenham to give a 10-5 scoreline at the break.

The second half saw Chippenham start well and from the first attack, Mooney ran in a try after some fine work by both the backs and the forwards.

The pressure continued to be applied to Frome and with another move off the back of a scrum, Alun Jones went in under the posts for another try.

The conversion was added by Paul Clifford.

Chippenham could not add to their points total but Frome grabbed a consolation try to make the final score 22-10 to the home side.
