GAZETTE & HERALD: A NEW boardroom, the Stirling Suite, named in honour of motor-racing legend Stirling Moss, will be opened at Castle Combe circuit on March 12.
Stirling Moss won several races there during his career, including setting three Formula 3 track records.
The suite also commemorates the New Zealand Air Force Stirling bomber, which crashed on the site, on March 13, 1944, when it was an airfield.
The aircraft of 75 New Zealand Squadron suffered a mechanical failure and crash-landed at Castle Combe. The crew survived, but the aircraft exploded when its payload of munitions blew up breaking the windows of many local houses in the blast.
Circuit chairman Howard Strawford said: "Stirling was an obvious choice because of our long association with one of the UK's motor-racing legends.
"But it is also an excellent opportunity to pay tribute to the New Zealand bomber crew and all those others who gave such a sterling service at this airfield in wartime."
The opening ceremony will be performed by North Wiltshire MP James Gray.
