WESTBURY United crashed to their third league defeat in a row on Saturday, having previously lost three league matches all season.

The Wiltshire side were gearing themselves up for a push for the Screwfix League Division One title but in recent weeks these hopes have suffered a blow.

Jerad O'Pray gave the home side the lead after only four minutes but it proved to be a false dawn as Larkhall scored four goals without reply to secure a league double over Westbury this season.

To add insult to injury Westbury defender Darren Lush was dismissed for allegedly swearing at the linesman.

United manager Derek Graham was at a loss to explain his side's downturn in fortunes.

He said: "We are having a nightmare run. To be honest the final score could have been 4-4 on Saturday.

"A few weeks ago we had the best defence in the league, but now we have conceded 11 goals in our last three games. We are not doing anything differently so I don't know what is going on.

"These things happen in football and we just have to play our way out of it. But if we play like we did against Larkhall then we won't win a game again this season."

O'Pray opened the scoring with Westbury's first attack of the match after a one-touch move involving Toby Colbourne and Wayne Wheeler.

The Meadow Lane fans could have been expecting the floodgates to open but on 13 minutes Larkhall equalised.

Good work by Jim Mclay and James Riccio led to a Mclay cross being headed in at the far post by Jack Moon.

Westbury nearly regained the lead on 19 minutes when Colbourne's cross was met by Mark Pearce who shot narrowly wide.

Steve Brown, making his second start for Larkhall since moving from Chippenham in a bid to regain full fitness, started to influence the match from the left wing.

He sent a shot over the bar, crossed to Moon who headed over and put in another cross that was headed wide by Terry Wade.

As the Larks pressed forward Moon struck fiercely from six yards and Dean Wheeler blocked the ball on the line with his arm.

Matt Townley hit the resulting spot kick low to Mark Batters' left and United's keeper dived to save and ensured the scores were level at half-time.

After Wayne Wheeler had gone close with the first attack after the break it was all Larkhall.

Townley made amends for his earlier penalty miss by racing in unmarked to head the Larks ahead on 62. Moon made it 3-1 soon after as he took advantage of slow defending to race through and beat Batters with ease.

O'Pray went close to reducing the arrears with 10 minutes remaining but his flick was comfortable for Dix and Larkhall's immediate attack led to another controversial moment involving the same linesman.

Moon, clearly offside as he received a flick on by Andrew Gilbert, was allowed to carry on. He played the ball to James Riccio who hit a powerful finish into the top of the goal to complete the scoring.
