THE Trowbridge and District Football League views the new facilities at Stanley Park, Chippenham, as a golden opportunity to attract new teams and a return to four divisions.

The pitches are due to come into use in the autumn.

League development officer Tim Penwell said: "The Trowbridge and District League congratulates Cllr Sandie Webb and her team on their tremendous achievement.

"We are delighted to accept Chippenham Town Council's invitation for us to work closely with them and to be associated with a council that achieves positive results.

"Significantly, we have just completed negotiations with a Chippenham company to sponsor the league for the next three years after this season.

"We see both as a golden opportunity to attract new teams in the area to our league.

"For the past two years new teams have had their first season's league and cup affiliation fees covered by sponsorship.

"I am hoping that this will continue. Already we have had two inquiries, one from the Calne area."

Initially there will be six dressing rooms and three separate changing rooms for teams and officials.

Ten pitches will be ready for September.

Town clerk Laurie Brown is ready to receive inquiries regarding the hire of pitches and can be contacted on (01249) 446999.

Applications for the Trowbridge League season 2004-05 should be made in writing to secretary Ian Hibbard, 126 Bath Road, Bradford on Avon, BA15 1SS or telephone (01225) 868309 for details. Closing date is May 31.

"I expect there to be a heavy demand for the number of pitches initially available and advise new teams wishing to join us not to waste any time in making inquiries.

"First impressions are just magnificent," said Mr Penwell.
