Wootton Bassett boss Pete Yeardley has completed the signing of Supermarine goalkeeper Ian Gill.

Yeardley has been tracking the teenage shot-stopper (pictured above) for weeks and Tommy Saunders finally agreed to release him in time for Bassett's Hellenic Premier Division trip to Pewsey Vale tomorrow.

With Steve Bizely and Rich Stevens already battling for the No 1 shirt, Bassett have an embarrassment of riches in that department.

Yeardley said: "In Gill and Bizely we have two of the best young goalkeepers in the league and added to that we have the experience of Stevens."

Unfortunately, Bassett are not as blessed in other areas of the field.

A chronic lack of goals and no league win since November sees them third from bottom in the table.

Pewsey are rock bottom, but after beating Yeardley's side 4-1 in the Wiltshire Senior Cup and enjoying a 2-0 win in the reverse fixture, the Bassett boss admits the hosts start as favourites.

He said: "They are below us but I think we go into the game as underdogs.

"They obliterated us at their place in the cup this season and beat us at home in the league."

Bassett will be without Stuart Lamont who is still away, while Tony Macek and Paul Davis are struggling with injury.
