CHIPPENHAM Town striker James Constable has laughed off any suggestions of a potential move away from Hardenhuish.

The club turned down a £2,500 offer, plus sell-on clause, for the 19-year-old from Conference club Forest Green Rovers last week and Constable is more than happy to stay.

Since becoming one of Steve White's first signings in December, the former Cirencester Town striker has scored 10 goals in 14 appearances.

Cheltenham and Rushden and Diamonds have also been monitoring the youngster but as far as Constable is concerned any talk of a move is nonsense.

He said: "I am ignoring it all really because I just want to keep playing football here. I have had a brilliant time since I joined and I hope it continues.

"All this talk about moving on is rubbish because I am very happy where I am and just want to concentrate on playing football.

"I am trying to put it all behind me and making sure I am focused on our bid to reach the conference."

Constable started the season kicking his heels on the Cirencester Town substitutes' bench but his season took a dramatic turn for the better when White gambled on his signature.

He has formed a formidable partnership with Charlie Griffin up front and if Chippenham are to gain promotion at the end of the season Constable's goals could prove the vital factor.

He said: "Steve White has been absolutely brilliant to me since I got here. I have learnt so much but I know I still have lots more to learn.

"I will be here at the end of the season. None of the directors or the manager have talked to me about Forest Green's offer because it was not really worth it.

"It is a nice feeling to have clubs interested in me and things have changed a lot since the beginning of the season but I just want to play football for Chippenham."

If Constable is hoping to enjoy a long and successful career in the game he could learn a lot from the player-manager of tomorrow's opponents, Steve Claridge.

The former Leicester City striker will be aiming to score the goals to move Weymouth back to the top of the Dr Martens League while Constable will be looking to help his side consolidate their current play-off position.

He said: "It is a big game and I am looking forward to it.

"Obviously our aim will be to get as many points as we can.

"I would be happy with a draw but I don't see why we should not go there looking for a win.

"I would love to get the three points down there.

"It will be a great experience to play against Steve Claridge and a nice place to play but the most important thing is to get a result."
