VOLUNTEERS cooked more than 200 breakfasts and raised £800 for charity.

Several members of the Cricklade branch of Cancer Research UK got up at the crack of dawn to rustle up the full English breakfasts at the town's United Church Hall.

Now in its sixth year, the national event called Britain's Biggest All Day Breakfast, seeks to raise much-needed funds for the charity.

Carolyn Russell, branch chairwoman, said: "Everyone mucked in and did a brilliant job,

"A lot of families supported us which was great to see. The breakfasts are becoming quite famous in Cricklade."

Alastair Cooke, 12, also lent a hand.

He said: "This was our best year yet. So many people are affected by cancer in some way that many wanted to give generously. We had a few people give us £15 for a breakfast.

"We've actually become quite good chefs over the years."
