CHIPPENHAM boss Steve White will be hoping it is a case of third time lucky when Moor Green visit Hardenhuish Park this weekend.

The Bluebirds lost twice in the space of three days away to the Moors in February in the league and the league cup fifth round.

On Saturday the stakes cannot be higher as Chippenham need the win to cling onto their play-off hopes.

For Moor Green victory would significantly boost their top-13 ambitions while defeat could leave them back in the play-off lottery.

Ex-QPR striker Dennis Bailey, who is still the last away player to score a league hat-trick at Old Trafford, will be a threat to Chippenham.

Attacking midfielders Daire Doyle, Jae Martin and Peter Faulds also caused the Bluebirds problems in the previous encounters.

Among their ranks Moor Green also boast former Aston Villa professionals Adam Rachel and Ben Petty.

On transfer deadline day they were busy signing defender Barry Williams and extending the loan fellow defender Richard Teesdale.

Moor Green are currently 12th with 51 points but their season is still poised on a knife-edge with only four points separating Eastbourne in seventh and Havant in 16th.

Last weekend Moor Green entertained Merthyr Tydfil and were held to a 1-1 draw.

They looked to be heading for defeat after conceding a goal by Merthyr's Jason Donovan.

But Neil Davis earned them a share of the spoils when he headed home Jae Martin's cross with six minutes to go.

Despite losing both games against Moor Green in the February double-header, Chippenham played well in spells and will still be confident they can get a result this weekend.

In the league clash Moor Green ended the Bluebirds six-game winning streak with a 3-2 win. Chippenham went behind early on when Ian Herring's under-hit back header was collected by Jae Martin.

James Constable blasted an equaliser under Adam Rachel early in the second half but Moor Green restored their lead when Rob Elms tapped in. Another defensive error allowed Peter Faulds to make it 3-1 before Constable got a consolation.

In the cup match it was the Bluebirds who took the lead when Charlie Griffin curled an exquisite free-kick past Adam Rachel. But they could not hang on Peter Faulds to level before Dennis Bailey teed up Daire Doyle for the second. Moor Green's decisive third came just after half-time when Martin buried his second of the game.
