DA5383P1A COMPANY that has become well known in Salisbury and the surrounding area could not have wished for a better day to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

Ford & Fulford, which specialises in windows, fascias and conservatories, marked its birthday with a family fun day at its premises at Old Sarum at the end of last month, choosing one of the sunniest days of the year so far.

Directors David Smith, Tony Horton and Aiden Condie were delighted with the crowds that flocked to enjoy displays by Wiltshire fire brigade, juggling by stilt-walking Jonathan the Jester, geese and snakes from Porton Garden Centre, a bouncy castle and face-painting, and refreshments served up by the staff of Apollo Blinds.

There was also the chance to find out more about Ford & Fulford's products and to win a £10,000 conservatory.

The company was founded in Idmiston by Les Fulford and Pete Ford and moved to Harnham before settling in Old Sarum in 1992.

Mr Smith said: "Les and Pete started it just at the time when the growth in the market started. They started fitting windows and then went into fabrication.

"Les sold the business in 1999. Now we have nine teams fitting windows and 40 staff altogether.

"Our family fun day was about tying in our conservatory promotion with our 25-year anniversary.

"And it was about saying thank you to our customers for their help and support over the years.

"There are a lot of people who came to our event whom we recognised from having fitted their windows.

"Our plans for the future include improving our showroom to include some demonstration conservatories, maintaining the quality of our work and continuing to be customer focused."

Mr Smith and Mr Horton underlined the day's emphasis on family fun by bringing along their own families - Robert, Christopher, Ben and Jody Smith, and Natasha and Scott Horton joined in the fun with mums Jo and Marie.

Mr Horton added: "We want to thank our staff for turning out for this event and for supporting us over the years."
