Goatacre dodged most of the showers to jump four places in Stroud & Swindon Glos/Wilts One with a convincing 115-run win over Colwall.

Captain Peter Turner won the toss and elected to bat and opening batsmen Rob Turner and Steve Gee raced along at seven per over, helped by wayward Colwall bowling that amassed 22 extras in the first eight overs.

Turner was out in the eighth over for 15, but Gee and Steve Lines. kept up the run rate and by 20 overs Goatacre were 96-1.

Lines (20) was adjudged leg before in the 22nd over with the score on 113.

Jif Wilkins joined Gee, but 40 minutes of play was lost and the umpires reduced the match to 45 overs per side.

When play resumed, Wilkins and Gee continued to pile on the runs, Wilkins being out for 45 from just 51 balls.

Goatacre were 198-3 with nine overs remaining before another shower brought tea forward.

Gee was out for 88 in the first over after tea and when Kevin Iles was out for just three two overs later Goatacre were 216- 5.

The innings finished strongly. Peter Turner (43 not out) and Edward Wilkins (22 not out) dispatched the bowling to all parts.

They hit 10 boundaries between them and added a further 61 runs to take the total to 277-5.

Wagstaff (13-3-42-2) and Colwall captain Tom Wolfendale (4-0-34-2) returned the visitors' best bowling figures and their openers Wolfendale and Powell started strongly with nine runs from the first over.

But a tight line and length frustrated Colwall and Rob Turner (7-2-16-2) and Adam Iles (7-1-17-2) accounted for the first four batsmen.

Support from change bowlers Rahn Heer and Jif Wilkins ensured that they would never reach the required target.

From 79-5, Kevin Iles and Peter Turner ensured Goatacre scored the maximum 22 points by taking the final five Colwall wickets between them for just 36 runs as they reached 115 in 35.3 overs.
