DA5806P1.DOWNTON FC boss Mitch Blake has swooped early to sign five new players in readiness for their forthcoming Sydenhams Wessex League campaign.
Blake has snapped up a quintet of players from near-neighbours Bemerton Heath Harlequins in a bid to bolster a squad which survived relegation.
Making the move from Western Way to Wick Lane are Danny Aplin, Ben Cross, Darrell Ford, Dan Newman and Dan Smith.
Downton's pre-season friendlies see them host Laverstock & Ford (Monday, August 2) and Salisbury City (Friday, 6) either side of a trip to Cranborne (Wednes-day, 4).
