After a successful inaugural year, next season sees the North Wilts & District Youth & Minors Football League grow even larger.

Due to popular demand the league will be running an extra division at both the under nine and under 10 age groups.

There will also be a second division at under level 15 following an influx of clubs from the Cirencester & District League making 21 sides at this age group three times as many as last season's total.

The league will also be running a combined under 16 and 17 division that looks set to have 16 teams.

New clubs competing in the league come September include AFC Lydiard, AFC Barbury, Eldene Colts, Hungerford Town Juniors, Kingsdown United, South Marston Saints, Wanborough and Wroughton Rovers.

The new season kicks off on Sunday, September 5, although the mini-soccer sections will be delayed a week due to the Wiltshire FA mini-soccer festival that takes place on that date.

Next season will also see the cups at under nine and 10 level run on a slightly different basis.

Rather than having fixtures played at the grounds of the first drawn teams, all matches in each round will be staged at one or two venues on the same day with qualified referees.

Fixtures, Results and Cup secretary Mark Smedley said: "One of the biggest sources of correspondence last year was complaints about club referees in mini-soccer knockout matches.

"So by staging games at one venue we can cover these matches in future with qualified neutral referees.

"This festival approach to earlier rounds in the cup also provides additional publicity opportunities to sponsors."
