Children at Shaw School, Melksham may not have to wait as long as first thought for a safe footpath to school.
Worried residents were told by Wiltshire County Council they would have to wait until 2011 for a new footway, linking Dunch Lane and Bath Road, but this week the school was told funding might be found sooner.
