15359/4THERE was not a spare seat as pupils from a Trowbridge school entertained the audience with a spectacular musical.

St John's Catholic Primary School produced a humorous take on the classic legends surrounding Robin Hood and his Merry Men on Wednesday and Thursday.

Both performances were sold out as parents packed the hall to see their children take centre stage.

In the lead roles were Joseph Rutter as Robin, Katherine Oughtibridge as Maid Marian and Joseph Jordan as the Sheriff of Nottingham.

Headteacher Mark Gillyon said: "It was certainly one of the most memorable in recent years.

"It was a tremendous team effort and a simply marvellous note to end the year on."

Andrea Earl, a teacher at St John's school, directed the production with a host of parent and staff helpers.

Neighbouring schools helped make the play a success with Clarendon School, Trowbridge, giving some additional stage blocks and Ben Harvey, of St Lawrence School, Bradford on Avon, responsible for the sound mixing.
