I AM writing in anger caused by the despicable action of one person who obviously has no regard for animals.

I am referring to your story about snakes being dumped in a lake in Cheney Manor.

Animals are usually better off left where they belong. However, most of us feel a need to share our homes with them. That's fine as long as we are prepared to take care of them properly.

To think that the person responsible could possibly be well-known within the snake- keeping community makes this act of cruelty a whole lot worse.

My 11-year-old daughter was sat with me while I was reading the article.

"Look at all those sticks and stones' she said, pointing to the picture. I explained to her what they were and what had happened to them.

"I know what we should do with the person who did that. Put them in a bag with stones in it and put them in a lake!" Out of the mouths of babes.

One last thought. We remain responsible forever for what we have tamed.
