Sylvia Cottle became the first woman to win a Haydon St AS trophy on Sunday, when she won the club's 'Dace Cup' with 5lb 12oz from a swim just below the bridge at Hannington on the River Thames.

The river was in perfect condition, good flow and colour with all catches made up of small fish dace, roach, gudgeon and perch, with most anglers favouring a stick float and caster combination as the catching method.

Second was Alan Hambridge with 3-8-0 and third Mark Jones with 3-3-0.

Heaviest bag of all species was taken by Martin Preston 9-8-0, followed by Mark Jones 7-10-0 and Sylvia Cottle was third with 7-6-0.

Pete Sole set a new match record in South Cerney AC's Carp Cup on the Wick Water Lake 2 on Sunday. Pete took 42 carp for a cracking 140lb 10oz. Second was Mick Telling 85-8-0 and third Bob Smith 80-12-0.

The Isis AC stretch of the Bristol Avon has been fishing exceptionally well this season for all species of fish. On Sunday it was the turn of the bream and tench to show in the Isis club match and it was the man on form, Adam Carter, who again won, this time with 19-5-0 from peg 111, two bream to 6lb, tench and roach.

Ray Duncan on peg 130 took two tench, and two bream for 17-12-0 and he was followed by Peter Gilbert on 137, with three tench and some perch for 13-13-0. Fourth was Richard Clarke 12-13-0 and fifth Dave Richardson 12-4-0.

The Peatmoor Junior Pairs Cup was won by John Gaylard and Ed Bryant with 34lb 3oz. Runners up with 30lb 2oz were Kevin Covey and Nathan Reeves and in third place with 23lb 1oz were Jamie Read and Luke Seabrook.

The summer league round four, 14-16 year age group, was won by John Gaylard with 21lb 2oz. Runner up with 18lb 3oz was Kevin Covey and in third place with 12lb 3oz was Jamie Read. In fourth place with 11lb 15oz was Nathan Reeves. The 10-13 year age group was won by Ed Bryant with 13lb 1oz. Runner up with 5lb 2oz was Danielle Freeman. The Peatmoor Ladies Cup was won by Danielle Freeman with 4lb 4oz.

The Wednesday Club match at Greenhill Fishery: 1, Pete Saunders 12-12-0; 2, Fred Brown 10-1-0; 3, Alan Clark 8-14-0.

There was a good Sunday turnout at Ridgeway Fisheries but the fish were a little bit wary on the day. Match winner was John Bohane with 20-4-0 beating second place Mark Baston 16-2-0 and Michael Lichota 16lb.

Fred Brown is on a good run at the moment having gained two first places and a runner-up spot within a week.

Fred easily won the BCA match on the Ivy House Lake's old canal section with 49-6-0 of carp up to 15lb. Second was Gary Palmer with 21-9-0, Paul Wallis was third with 21-6-0 and there was a tie for fourth between Graham Smith and Mel Mullen 19-13-0 apiece.

The Raychem v Transco match at Roode Ashton finished a resounding victory for Raychem with 326lb to Transco's 178lb.

Man of the match was Cliff Brown (R) 65-4-0 and Raychem anglers followed also in second and third spot with Paul Harding 53-14-0 and Gary Skates 43-12-0. Top Transco angler was fourth Brian Gilder 42lb.
