Ref. 72581-114DETECTIVES investigating the murder of punk rock fan Mick Love are targeting non-English speaking residents in their latest appeal for information.

A letter, which has been translated into Arabic, Kurdish, Turkish and Somali, will land on the doorsteps of Old Town residents on Thursday.

Police hope the letter, which urges anyone who may have witnessed an argument or fight in the Cannon Street area between 2.30am and 5am last Monday to get in touch, will help break language barriers.

Officers say they will bring in interpreters to help answer any calls.

Police spokesman Alvina Kumar said: "The letters are being sent out for the benefit of people who may not be literate in the English language."

The move comes after police released a second man they had been quizzing over the murder.

He was arrested on Monday and taken to Westlea Police station but has been released on police bail, pending further inquiries.

It is believed officers made the arrest after following up clues gathered during an early morning check in Victoria Road.

Another man, who was taken in for questioning early on Friday, was released without charge.

Police are also searching for what they believe is a key witness and have released a grainy CCTV image of a man they want to hear from.

He was walking down Victoria Road at about 3.38am last Monday, about the time the murder may have occurred.

To help bolster the police investigation, which has involved 400 house-to-house inquiries, the Advertiser has produced posters appealing for information.

Police say the campaign has helped gather a number of clues but the murder weapon and Mr Love's credit cards are still missing.

"Anyone with information must contact us no matter how small or irrelevant they think the information is," said Ms Kumar.

Mr Love, 40, of Prospect Place, was stabbed to death after a night out with friends during what police believe was a robbery that went tragically wrong.

His body was found in Cannon Street at the junction with Victoria Road at 5.19am.

Messages of condolence have flooded in for the father-of-two and floral tributes have been left at the murder scene.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 01793 528111 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
