U11 KNOCKOUT CUP: THE match of the first round turned out to be the game between Greenmeadow B and Highworth Juniors.

The two sides shared seven goals, with Highworth edging it by a last-minute winner to make it through to the next round.

Callum Hector hit two for Greenmeadow, while Highworth's goals came courtesy of Connor Simpson (2), Oakley Hayward and Adam Clarke.

There was also another classic encounter between Purton A and Stratton Juniors and it took penalties to separate the teams in the end.

Regan Cass put Stratton in front, only for Purton to equalise through Reece Bowler.

It remained 1-1 after extra time and in the end Stratton edged it 4-3 on penalties.

Top scorers of the day were Greenmeadow A, who ensured at least one of the sides from the club made it through to the last 16, with a comprehensive 12-0 win over Shrivenham and Watchfield.

Lewis Taylor led the way with four goals, there were hat-tricks for Joe Baldwin and Ryan Jones and two for Jordan Watts.

Wootton Bassett Town also had a comprehensive win, defeating a spirited Purton B 10-1. There was a brace for the quartet of Scott Walduck, Oliver Rigby, Ben Mattick and Jack Peake, plus one apiece for Joe Paish and Sam Lowkis.

To their credit Purton kept battling away and got the reward their efforts deserved with a well taken goal from William Woodman.

It was a somewhat tighter affair between Croft Juniors A and FC Abbey Meads, with Croft edging it by the odd goal in three. John-Luke Bolton and Conor Lawrence scored for Croft, Josh Baker for FC Abbey Meads.

There was another tight game between Stratton Youth, Cirencester, and Wanborough JFC. In the end, a late winner for Wanborough saw them through into the second round draw, Gareth Hook and Ben Peapell scored their two goals, with Jack Peare scoring the consolation goal for Stratton in what was a very sporting contest.

Probably the biggest crowd of the day witnessed the Penhill derby. They were not disappointed in a game that went into extra time, with the Knights winning their first game of the season courtesy of two goals apiece from Ben Woodward and Billy Wherry. Aidan Henshaw and Josh King scored the consolation goals for the Allstars.

One of the most skilful and polished performances of the day came from Shaw as they saw off Swindon Soccer Skills 5-0. On target for Shaw were Joe Bridgman with a hat-trick, Dale Richards and Chris Siddle.

Another side who will be amongst the favourites for the trophy will be Ferndale Rodbourne, who defeated Liden Community 5-0 in one of the opening games of the day. Zak Viveash hit a hat-trick and Jacob Davidge and Ibrahim Barisha scored one a piece.

They were joined in the last 16 by their stablemates Ferndale Rodbourne B who saw off Blunsdon Colts B 4-0. Jack Seaman with two, Cameron Young and Daniel Pretlove were on target in this one.

Blunsdon Colts A were made to work hard for their win by Cricklade Youth, eventually edging it 2-0, both goals scored by Jake Griffin.

Nathan Crittle and Arron Dale both hit hat-tricks in Robins' 8-1 win over Eldene Rangers, Connor Livingstone getting the other two Robins' goals and Jaedon Pedley the consolation for Eldene.

Wroughton had a comfortable victory over Swindon Badgers, hitting nine without reply through Alex Mitchell (3), Jack Jones, Tom Padfield, Jonathan Coppock, Dan Cook, William Randall and an own goal.

Fairford also had a comfortable passage into the next round, defeating Highworth Juniors B 8-1. Liam Marsden scored the Highworth consolation goal, while Dominic Phipps (3), Finlay Gordan (2), Robbie Brown, Joss Barton and Matt Clarke were the Fairford scorers.

North Division league leaders Lydiard Youth are also in the draw for the next round, defeating Old Town United 6-1. James Richardson scored for Old Town, with Christian Dyton (3), Max Slinn, Travis Marchant and McCauley Burns scoring for Lydiard.
