14250/5ASCHIPPENHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE: THE top flight produced 36 goals from just five matches as top scorers Box Rovers' 10-3 defeat of Trowbridge Harriers shot them to the top of the Premier Division for the first in three years.

Rovers' win was never in doubt as the Harriers played the whole game with just ten men.

Tim Jefferies led the scoring with five, one a penalty. Jason Walsh hit four including one from the kick off after Harriers had scored their second.

Tom Smith added Rovers' tenth. John Baker, Paul Griffiths and Sasha Morgan replied for Harriers who had it not been for keeper Angus Curzon could well have conceded another ten.

Bradford News claimed the result of the day with a emphatic 4-1 victory over title favourites Sherston Town. The Newsmen's goals came from Charlie Powell and Gavin Target with two apiece. Sherston hit back through Andy Wicks.

Maud Heath Sports have finally played their first league match and gave a solid performance to overcome Biddestone Social 5-2. Biddestone took the lead through Jamie Lyons and a Wilson own goal but Dean Slade (2), Justin King, Stuart Wilson and Alistair Duncan hit back.

West Lavington (Sunday) were in red hot form as they emerged triumphant 5-3 victors against an All Cannings side who in recent weeks had started to show the signs that they were returning to top form themselves. Steve Bush, James Ashford-Brown and James Gales' goals counted for nothing as Simon Drewitt (3, one penalty) and Lee Campbell (2) ensured Lavington remain unbeaten this term.

Westbury Rangers A suffered their first loss since the start of the year against Dog and Fox Ashley.

Marc Lanfear put them ahead but Dog and Fox got back into the game thanks to a 12-yard thunderbolt from Jack Sheppard. Five minutes later a Russell Whatley header fell to Steve Wickins who rifled home the winner.

Division One

SEMINGTON Rovers maintained their good start to the league campaign with a 3-1 victory over an unlucky North Star side. North Star dominated the first half and could count themselves very unfortunate to go behind to great finish from Stuart Barber.

Star got their deserved equaliser from Tommy Ludford.

Semington went ahead through Ricky King and made the points safe when Danny Rimmer broke the offside trap to score the third.

Holt FC led Wingfield 2-0 with five minutes left but threw away the two-goal cushion to settle for a 2-2 draw. Lloyd Kettlety and substitute John Holmes put Holt ahead but Wingfield's Lee Frisby and Alan House hit back.

A Paul Daly double was unable to prevent The Horse and Groom from going the same way as the 42 teams who had played Corsham Centre before them had gone. Although not at full strength the Centre were just to good for the Horse who suffered a 6-2 loss. Charlie Higson (2) and George Bentley were among Centre's scorers with Scott Lye, Liam Ralph and Luke Risbrook adding the others as Pete Ralph's side made it 43 wins on the trot.

FC Colerne staged a great fightback at North Bradley to turn a 2-0 arrears and turn it into a 4-2 advantage before Bradley grabbed a consolation third as Colerne hung onto to win 4-3.

Leigh Trainer scored both of Bradley's early goals which were cancelled out by Andy Harker who reduced the gap with a delightful lob from 35 yards.

Charlie Spirrell converted from the penalty spot to tie the game and Sam Puckett crashed home a left footed beauty from 16 yards to hand them the lead for the first time. Harker added his second of the game for Colerne but their was still time for Bradley to add another though Trainer who completed a great treble.

Goals from Ben Thomas, Ben Cullen and Steve Brittan earned Calne Sunday their second win of the season which came at the expense of Chippenham Sports and Social Club whose 3-2 defeat means they have lost all their 3 games to date but they have at last found the net with Alan Banks scoring both.

Division Two

Southwick Sports jointly occupy top spot with Potterne Fc following their 5-3 defeat of Blue Circle (Sunday) for whom Graham Deveney missed a crucial penalty with the score at 1-1, Daryl Maxwell, Pete Lusty and Wayne Wheeler scored for the cement boys while Carl Davies (2), Liam Brown, Dan Alford and Chris Fardell were all on target for Southwick.

Potterne FC claimed their biggest win since they joined the league when they destroyed King Alfred 9-1, Johnny Emm (4, 1 pen) Ben Giles (3) and Andy Hobbs (2) of which 1 was also from the penalty made it a day Alfred will want to forget, Rob Smith replied for the losers.

Parsons Nose overcame Biddestone Arms by the odd goal in an 11 goal epic to win 6-5 and for a second week running it was heartache for the Arms who lost out to a last minute winner.

Parsons Nose started this game the brightest and duly took the lead after 5 minutes when Dan Reeves finished past Chris Gray from a through ball that put Reeves in a dubiously offside position, Biddestone still reeling found themselves two down shortly after when Dan Neale left keeper Gray stranded with a great finish.

Parsons Nose seemed comfortable until Dean Fry was sent clear and scored past Craig Woodruff. Biddestone were on level terms after 25 minutes when Steve Casey was put through by Stuart Thorburn and he again had time to pick his spot.

Parsons Nose retook the lead in the 43rd minute when a long throw by Wayne Bailey was flicked on and Darren Whiting 's attempted head across goal managed to elude the flat footed keeper and looped into the net.

Biddestone found themselves level within five minutes of the restart after Michael Ward scored on his debut for the club after some good work by Dean Fry on the right side of goal Fry crossed low for Ward to nick the equaliser, the game continued to flow form end to end and Parsons Nose again took the lead through Dave Jenkins with a good finish after a mix up in the Biddestone defence.

Biddestone again when Fry who finished well for his second of the game. Parsons Nose took the lead again through Dan Neale as neither side looked like they could defend well.

Biddestone found themselves level again after Lee Scutter netted to bring the scores to 5-5 but it was heartbreak for Biddestone for the second week running when with 3 minutes to go, Kevin Woolford missed the a good chance to clear the ball and it fell kindly for Wayne Bailey who lashed the ball home from 20 yards leaving Chris Gray rooted to his spot to take the points for the home side.

Christian Malford were outplayed for the first 20 minutes by opponents Corsham Park Rangers who were made to pay for missed chances as Malford found their scoring boots to ease home 5-1. Scott Evans and Richard Bruce put Malford 4-0 in charge at the interval after they added to a Chris Chrome and Chris Pitman's goals in the 24th and 25th minutes. Evans made it 5-0 before Servet Aslan bagged Rangers consolation five minutes from time.

Ian Dawkins was the toast of Sutton Benger as his stunning 35-yard screamer in the final minute earned his team a point in a 2-2 stalemate with The Crown, Devizes. The Crown twice took the lead through Niall MacLean and Antony Dowell, for whom it was his first goal in five years. Danny Cocker scored first for Benger opener with a great header but it was Dawkins super strike that will be remembered.

Steeple Ashton (Sunday) had both John Laye-Sion and Marc Sheppard dismissed as they slumped to a 2-1 defeat at home to Spencer Sports. Ben Grinham headed Spencer in front only for team mate Gary Neate to beat his own keeper from 30 yards. Substitute John Knight smashed home a 35-yard winner after Barry Holloway had a penalty saved by Ashton keeper Nathan Holloway.

Division Three

SIR Audley's Arms claimed pole position by virtue of their 5-1 victory over Bradstone Rovers.

Steve Edwards opener for Bradstone was cancelled out by Adam O'Keefe . The second period was dominated by the Arms with Steve Mallard and Joe Baker netting two apiece.

Classic FC claimed their first point of the season with a 2-2 draw at home to North Star B. Classic led though Chaz Parks and Matt Perks but Gary Wootton and Dave Smith levelled.

Somerford FC picked up a second consecutive league win. Chris Yeo (2), Mark Clarke and Jason Martin shared the goals as they beat Old Road Tavern 4-2, Tom Jones and Gavin Aplin scored for Tavern.

Sam Gooding was on target for Westbury Rangers B in their 1-0 victory over local rivals White Horse.

Division Four

COOPER Avon and KSM drew 1-1 with Trevor Newman scoring for Cooper and Dominic Riccio equalising.

The Crown FC played at home against Plough with their confidence sky high after some good performances, but they were stunned by a Plough side who claimed a 4-1 victory. The Crown through Adam Bewley, after the setback Plough then gained possession of the game and Dave Thomas escaped into the area and knocked the ball home at the second attempt. Mark Campbell added 2 more and Gary Taylor wrapped it up for Plough.

AFC Springfield picked up their first points and goals of the season after defeating AFC Melksham 2-1, Scott Fleming was their first scorer in 4 games and even though Lee Stripe levelled for Melksham Matt Oliver had the final say when he turned his marker to fire home Springfield's winner five minutes from time.

A cracking 35 yard strike from Richard Sheffield plus 2 goals from Ryan Kelleher put AFC Calne 3-0 up against AFC Pilot who hit back with a Chris Bishop effort to make it 3-1, whilst a good second half display from Calne's keeper Aaron Ward ensured the visitors left Shaw with a 3-1 win and the points

Adam Currie scored both goals for Wanderers as they moved up to third in the table after a 2-1 home win over Pack Horse Rangers for whom Glyn Pascoe headed home a Dan Jackson corner.

Wiltshire Sunday Cup

Winsley beat AC Soho 5-1 with goals from Gary Higdon (2) Nick Ridout, Paul Ranger and Chris Birleson. Soho scored a consolation goal through Matt Saunders.

Trowbridge Town Supporters Club gave a good account of themselves against Corsham Cricket Club who eventually won 3-0 with all the goals coming in the final 20 minutes from Jamie Rowe, Paul Clifford and Steve Curtis.

Tim Culling was on target twice for Chippenham Police who went down 8-2 to Swindon side Juventus.

Fascia Graphics also crashed out losing 2-0 away to CJ Electrical Marlboro Town.
