WILTSHIRE LEAGUE: CRICKLADE Town trailed by four goals at one stage in their match with visitors Corsham Town Reserves and, despite a spirited reply in the second half, ran out of time and were beaten 4-3.

The visitors took a two goal lead at the break and added two in the opening five minutes of the second half, Adam Taylor completing a hat-trick, and James Weston providing a fourth.

Ben Carter started a mini revival for his side with a good header and a free kick, Ian Ross adding a third with just over five minutes to go.

Cricklade pressed hard for an equaliser but the visitors defended well and just about deserved their victory.

New College turned in a solid display to beat visitors Calne Town Reserves 2-0.

For three quarters of the game it looked very evenly balanced without too many chances being created, however Stuart Bellinger and Jordan King struck in the last quarter to give the College a well earned victory.

Purton Reserves, after their gallant cup win last week, were never in with a shout at Melksham, losing 5-1 to the home side. Stuart Irons struck a hat-trick, with James Eatough and Oliver Gee adding further goals. Pete Temple scored for Purton.

Marlborough Town found some form at Shrewton, beating the home side 4-0, the goals coming at regular intervals in the first half from Justin Guinierie (2), Tom Etheridge and Lee Bicknoll.

The shock result of the day was at Westbury where new boys Bromham put the skids under the league leaders, running out 3-2 winners.

Bromham boss John Boatman was delighted with the result and said: "We caused them plenty of problems in the first half and deserved our lead.

"They came back at us after the break but the lads battled gamely and it was good response from the side following last week's cup defeat."

Jamie McLoughlin and Andy Davis scored before the interval for Bromham and a penalty from Mark Lanfear soon after the restart was cancelled out by another good strike by Davis.Ten minutes from time Lanfear added a second, but Bromham hung on.

AFC Stratton, looking to come back from last week's big league defeat by Corsham, were in action in the Corsham Print Senior Cup and came through unscathed 2-0 to book their place in the third round.

An own goal gave the home side an interval lead against Malmesbury and a strike by Ricky Mazzotta midway through the second half brought back a smile to manager Tony Dyer.

The match of the day in junior one was at Aldbourne where the home side ran out 3-1 winners over visitors Cricklade Reserves. Neither side could find the net in a close first 45 minutes but after the break the visitors went a goal up soon after the restart.

Nick O'Dwyer hit a 20 yarder to level the scores, a header from Steve Thomas and a free kick by Matt Fryer settled the issue in the home side's favour.

Wroughton had their shooting boots on against Biddestone Reserves beating the visitors 6-0. Michael Wilson was on target with a hat-trick, Barry Dickens scored twice and Vince Gillingham finished off.

Marlborough Town Reserves and AFC Stratton Reserves shared six goals in an exciting contest, Sean Anderson scoring with a long-range free-kick, Pete Day and Wayne Presley for the Town and Mark Ayres, Nick Murdon and Scott Rouse on target for Stratton.

In another close game at Bromham, Wroughton Reserves ran out winners 4-3. Tom Slater (2) and Steve Escott netted for the home side and Tony Sole, Brett Armstrong, Martin Killick and Nick Salter for the visitors.

Chiseldon Castrol drew 2-2 Stratton Rovers Reserves.
