Striker Ben Highmore came to his uncle's rescue six months after dramatically walking out on the club with two goals in his first game since transferring from Corsham Town last week.

Calne went into the break two goals down on Saturday and then the young striker sparked a goal frenzy as he scored the first two of six goals in a frenetic second half.

Manager Kelvin Highmore was reluctant to comment about his nephew's departure from Calne in April but is pleased to have him back at the club. He said: "I did not want him to leave in the first place. I rate him very highly and think he is one of the best strikers in the league."

The ex-Corsham player is also happy to be playing for his uncle again.

He said: "Knowing that I would be playing for Kelvin again made my decision to return easy. He gave me my first chance to play senior football when I left Cirencester, I'm grateful for that. By scoring two I feel I have paid him back for showing confidence in me."

Ilfracombe went ahead on 15 minutes when a corner kick from Steven Burns somehow went straight into the net.

The visitors doubled their lead on 34 minutes, but Calne scored their first goal on 54 minutes when Highmore picked up a Ryan Pratley cross and finished with a left foot drive.

The home side scored two goals in 45 seconds on the hour. The first was a header from Highmore at the back post. Midfielder Danny Jones retrieved possession from the Ilfracombe centre kick, ran the ball down the wing and crossed in for Armstrong, he finished the move with a powerful header.

Calne were two ahead on 75 minutes when Duncan's miss-hit shot fell to the feet of Armstrong who tapped in from eight yards. The Devon side clawed one back when Varley headed in a Burn's free kick on 81 minutes but Calne killed the game off on 84 minutes when substitute Matt Chamberlain sent a rasping low drive into the corner.

Jones ended it on 89 minutes when he stabbed home Ally Duncan's cross.
