STEVE Wootton may have managed his last game at Pewsey if a meeting with chairman Rob Thompson went as expected last night.

Wootton, who has had two spells as manager, said: "I need to talk to everyone involved before I make my mind up. There were a few harsh words said after the game, I don't think that some of the players are prepared to play for me. I think that maybe it will be right to move on.

"It is hard to accept getting beat 7-0 at home by bottom of the league. The players just gave up, their attitudes were not right and we did not perform anywhere near our potential. I almost walked away from my job that evening."

Wootton has been manager for more than four years and says that he has never seen his team do that badly.

"I gave them a few home truths to ponder at full time. If they carry on playing like that they will be relegated.

"This job is effecting me at home as you don't switch off on a Saturday evening.

"If I do decide to stay at the club, some things will have to change, like the players' attitudes for example."

The manager insists that he would not consider taking the helm of another football club.

"I have been with Pewsey for more than 20 years, I don't think that I could manage another club. I will always go up to watch Pewsey play even if I am not the manager."

Pewsey were a goal down after 15 minutes when Chris Greenhough found space on the right hand side and shot into the top corner.

A long range shot on 28 minutes from Matt Moore flew in, making it two.

Russel Chamberlain put the visitors three up five minutes later when he headed home a cross from five yards away from goal.

Chamberlain headed in another goal on 35 minutes following some terrible defending as the striker was left in the box unmarked.

Tim Haddock ran through the Pewsey defence to fire home Shortwood's fifth on the 68th minute.

Then defender Karl Marsh gave away a penalty with a tackle from behind on Chamberlain. He stepped up to convert the spot kick and complete his hat trick.

Moore grabbed his second and Shortwood's seventh with a superb strike from outside the box.

Wootton has furious with the result. He said: "I was embarrassed to watch that game. It is not fair on our supporters who came every week to watch us. We have to give them more than that."

It will be interesting to note the result when Pewsey face high-flying Didcot Town away from home on tomorrow evening.
