GAZETTE &HERALD: Determined young people's snooker group, Make Or Break, has been given a boost with the news that it is to receive £7,000 through network funding for its proposed snooker hall.

The snooker hall, to be based in an old first floor office in Wood Street, Calne, has been in planning for three months with a group of teenagers from John Bentley School meeting regularly with a panel of adults to discuss plans.

Mayor, Coun Carol O'Gorman, said: "We've got the money from the network funding for the snooker hall.

"I am delighted and they said it was one of the best forms they've seen.

"Now we can really start to move ahead. We need to get a business plan together and John Bentley School has said that I can go and work up there in their lunch hours and work with them and some of the teachers."

The hall will be named in memory of the late actor David Hemmings with the blessing of his widow Lucy.
