GAZETTE &HERALD: John Bentley School competed in the Greenpower Challenge on Sunday September 19, finishing halfway down the field but gaining the fastest lap.
The school's team, which consisted of the year nine gifted and talented group, a group set up to stretch brighter students, was leading the race until the car's chain came off.
Pupil Liane Marshallsay, 14, said: "We had to build an electric race car that had a to race for six hours and we had to have six drivers.
"They could drive for a minimum of 20 minutes and a maximum of two hours.
"If we had'nt had the problems we would have won."
Jess Hargreaves, 13, said: "We were doing well but the chain fell off a ton of times and then the wheel fell off."
