14271/1URI Geller demonstrated his power to bend spoons to people in Devizes. Mr Geller was with Britain's Most Haunted programme makers when they spent the day at the Black Swan Hotel in Devizes Market Place.

Mr Geller claims to have psychic powers to bend spoons and keys.

He took around 12 teaspoons from the hotel and stood outside the hotel.

He bent them all much to the delight of enthralled youngsters and adults.

Ben MacNaughton Cox, joint manager of the Black Swan, saw the spoons bending.

He said: "I was a sceptic before Uri Geller came and I was amazed to see the spoons bending. I couldn't believe it."

Mr MacNaughton Cox and his wife, Heather, had to buy replacement tea spoons after Mr Geller had finished with them as he gave them to members of the public who had gathered to watch.

It is hoped the spoon bending will feature on the programme which is being shown on Sky One on Tuesday.

Also featured is a ghost vigil in the hotel featuring Mr Geller, the programme's presenter Yvette Fielding and spiritualist medium Derek Acorah.

Mr MacNaughton Cox said: "They said they thought they had picked up ghostly behaviour although I don't know to what extent until I see the programme.

"They flitted from room to room so it seemed a bit theatrical."

Mr MacNaughton Cox and his wife have been running the hotel for the past year.

The pub is renowned for alleged ghostly behaviour.

Customers have reported seeing the ghost of a young lady in room number four.

The pub's cellar is allegedly haunted by a former owner who was a respectable person by day but a highwayman by night.

Mr MacNaughton Cox said: "I think there is something in the ghost theory. When I have been on my own in the cellar I've had my shirt pulled.

"Staff have been in the function room on their own and have heard footsteps on the floorboards."
