THE immaculate right boot of Andrew Donegan inspired Calne to an emphatic win. The club's vice-presidents were treated to a superb display, which Donegan orchestrated, although it was hooker Mike Palfrey who opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a try under the posts.

Paul Jenkins was next on the scoreboard after finishing off a break by Donegan. The favour was quickly returned 10 minutes later, when Jenkins put the Cricklade defence on the back foot and laid the ball off to Donegan for the seven points.

In the second half, Calne's fourth try was arguably the best of the day.

Prolific try scorer-turned-playmaker Neil Young released right wing John Hope-Smith. He chipped over the covering defence and won the foot race to crash over for another touchdown.

Damon Murphy, frustrated by a disallowed try, was in a good supporting position after a devastating run by Neil Watkins and was not denied again.

Powerful South African Guthrie Holiday scored the sixth and Cricklade responded with a late try, but were well beaten.

Leaders Corsham thrashing Hungerford 83-0 and Supermarine downed Swindon 2nd 26-0 but Marlborough suffered an 81-0 mauling at Melksham's Cooper Avon Tyres.
