Malmesbury's victory maintains their two point advantage at the top of the league and Aldbourne arrived with a makeshift pack which strongly missed a second line-out specialist.

Paul Steen fought for every front ball with Malmesbury's Tom Neal, but the lack of a specialist at four gave Aled James and Huw Jones free reign on the longer balls. Malmesbury's superiority in the back row produced three scores, and their solid front row held any attack the visitors tried.

Behind the scrum, Steve Brady had most of the game his own way and was able to provide a regular service to Kristian Aren at fly-half.

Malmesbury took the lead after five minutes with a try by Huw Jones. Taking the ball off the back of a five metre line-out, he touched down close to the posts.

Three minutes later, the visitors opened their account when Paul Beresford punished an offside Malmesbury player with a penalty, but the home side replied with a break by Steve Brady from the back of the scrum feeding Kris Aren. The ball went to David Worker who touched down in the corner.

Finally Paul Hutton scored an unconverted try to make the half-time score 20 - 6.

Two minutes into the second half, Huw Jones scored another Malmesbury try.

The conversion attempt was blown wide of the sticks, but after 15 minutes Aled James scored another, right against the touchline.

Dorian James was replaced by Kevin Tillotson at this stage.

Malmesbury's final score came 25 minutes into the second half with a penalty goal by David Worker. The home side relaxed a bit and gave away a number of silly penalties, however, none were within Beresford's range.

Malmesbury's next match is away against Supermarine Seconds on Saturday.
