OVER the past year the state of the Salisbury Road roundabout on the A4 has gradually deteriorated.

Since January I have tried via Clarence to get a storm drain unblocked. It now has weeds growing through the grill and winter awaits.

Furthermore, having carried out a survey, it was not surprising to discover bollards missing and unlit, crazy paving on road dividers broken, frequent idle water persists adjacent to Pelham Court and the builder's yard, many weeds in evidence skirting pavements, surface of road breaking up in places and white lining undefined, sign to M4/Swindon badly bent, undefined path behind Memorial due to weeds and ivy.

The interesting point is that one notices a neat and pleasing appearance when approaching from the Bath Road. Could this be a case of a west end/east end syndrome? If the town council is able to maintain a pleasing standard with their flower beds and grass mowing why can't County follow suit?
