I WOULD like to respond to P G Horsall's letter of September 30, for while Marlborough Town Council seems to have a self destruct wish this thankfully it is not the norm.

Councillors, when elected, put themselves between a rock and a hard place wishing to support their electorate but at the same time being controlled by government guidelines and common law etc. Their actions, words and deeds are accountable to everyone.

Politics should not be acceptable at local levels of local government so it is refreshing that a councillor has had the courage to stand up.

He may create a few waves, but isn't it important to know why

8.5K was spent seemingly unnecessarily?

It is our money after all.
