A KEBAB shop worker from Warminster sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl as she walked to catch her school bus.

Deniz Demirdag, who worked part-time for Speedy Chef in Weymouth Street, begged forgiveness when police found him, but could not say why he had attacked the girl.

On Tuesday Chippen-ham Magistrates' Court heard how the 20-year-old left the schoolgirl extremely distressed after assaulting her outside Warminster Park on July 20.

Marion Langford, prosecuting, said Demirdag followed the girl and touched her chest, but she managed to get free after a struggle.

Later that morning police found him on a bench in the park and he immediately admitted the attack.

Bill White, defending, said: "The offence is clearly unacceptable, quite why he did it he doesn't know. The girl herself is always going to remember this."

Demirdag, who is married with a nine-month-old baby, lives with his wife's family in Greyfriars Close, Salisbury. He was given a six-month community rehabilitation order, placed on the Sex Offenders Register for five years and ordered to pay £70 costs.

After the hearing, Speedy Chef co-owner Lorraine Ascioglu said she took action after finding out about the attack. He got the sack as soon as this came out and we've not had any trouble with any other staff," she said.

"We don't stand for anything like that and we've got a good reputation in the town."
