CHRISTIAN Roberts should officially become a Swindon Town player by close of play today providing the club's board meet his demands.

Roberts' agent has informed Andy King the terms required by the Bristol City striker and the Town boss will seek the all clear to complete the transfer from the club's board this afternoon.

If they give the proposal the seal of approval, Roberts will finalise his £50,000 switch from Ashton Gate and bolster Town's limited attacking options.

The early indications are good, with acting chief executive Bob Holt revealing Roberts' expectations are more realistic than Town's previous striking target.

Said Holt: "Andy has been talking to his agent and he has given us a schedule of Roberts' requirements.

"Andy and the board will convene on Monday to discuss the situation.

"From what I've seen, the proposal seems reasonable a lot less demanding than Darius Henderson shall we say."

Roberts, 24, started his career with Cardiff before moving to Exeter for two seasons where he scored 19 goals.

He switched to Bristol City in 2002 and has made nearly 100 first-team appearances at Ashton Gate.

But he has been pushed down the pecking order this season following the arrival of Paul Heffernan and Steve Brooker.

Like Holt, Roberts has received positive vibes from the early negotiations.

Speaking to the Adver on Sunday evening, the former Wales under 21 forward said: "My agent has had a few discussions with Swindon over the weekend.

"I've spoken to my agent a couple of times today and he seems to think everything went well.

"Things are moving along as smoothly as they can do in football.

"I'm not asking for the world, I just want what I think I'm worth."

If Town's directors give the deal the thumbs up, Roberts should touch down in Wiltshire for a medical within the next two days.

That's the final hurdle before he can take his place in the frontline in the absence of the suspended Sam Parkin for the visit of Oldham on Saturday.

Roberts is confident that the deal will go without a hitch.

He added: "Everything is in working order so hopefully I'll be at Swindon within the next 48 hours."
