Midfielder Ellis Wilmot thinks that Aylesbury should count themselves lucky that they left Hardenhuish with three points on Saturday.

Wilmot said that the Ducks did not deserve to score. He said: "Their goal was a total fluke and they did not create enough chances to deserve a goal."

He thought that their goal changed how Chippenham played. He said: "We deserved at least a draw as they were definitely not the better side.

"After they scored we were chasing the game and they defended deeply and managed to hold on."

The midfielder said that he felt bad about this particular defeat. He said: "When you get beat by better teams and deserve to lose you can take a loss. In this case they did not out play us and that is hard for me to accept."

Wilmot explained what went wrong with the freak own goal. He said: "Their lad (Kofi Sintim) cut inside the penalty box and came at me. I thought that it would be too risky to hit it over the bar so I tried to kick the ball out for a corner. It hit Ian Herring and flew in the goal. I think that we were very hard done by to concede in this way."

But Wilmot did not think that Chippenham deserved to win the game.

He said: "A draw would have been a fair result. They did not create much up front but we didn't either. It was a very scrappy game and the conditions did not help much. The ball was skidding around and it made it hard for both teams to put anything together.

"We did not equip ourselves for the weather, unlike the game against Cirencester on Tuesday where we coped well with the fog. We did not play that well today. We failed to get our challenges in.

"After they went ahead we failed to improve and come at them like we did against Gloucester where we went 2-0 down and still won the game. When things do not go our way we get edgy in our play."
