Defender Simon Charity insists that his team must not be inconsistent if Chippenham want to push for the title.

Charity, 28, was disappointed after his side put in a lacklustre performance against Aylesbury.

He said: "We had a great result in the week away from home then we come back here and did not perform. This is not good enough and we have to shake this inconsistency."

The defender, who has been playing as a wing back in a new 3-5-2 formation, could not believe how bad Chippenham played. He said: "The difference was frightening. We are still playing a lot of unknown teams but we need to produce the performances week in week out.

"Our preparation for the games has been good but things just don't seem to go our way. It is very disappointing but there is no point in sulking as there is nothing we can do about it now."

Charity explained what Chippenham have to do after this defeat. He said: "We have to dust ourselves off and get over this quickly. We have to get our preparation right for the next game at Kings Lynn."

The defender knows that Chippenham's away performances have been much better than their home form and is looking forward to the away trip to Norfolk on Saturday in front of more than 800 fans.

He said: "It is a long trip, it is the furthest that I have ever travelled for a game of football.

"They have a big crowd and it will be a great atmosphere to play in, I can't wait to get up there and play."

Charity went home on Saturday night to try and get over the defeat. He said: "I go home after a defeat and assess my performance. At least we are not struggling at the bottom of the league. We will pick ourselves back up before next Saturday."
