CHIPPENHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE: TROWBRIDGE Harriers had to come from three behind to beat Classic FC 6-4. John Hubbard (4), Andy Cooper and Paul Edwards scored for the Harriers and this was after Harry Coates (3) and Dayle Townsend had threatened to cause a major upset.

Spencer Sports needed extra time and penalties before they finally saw off Biddestone Arms.

Biddestone duly took the lead they deserved around the 25 minute mark with Dean Fry providing a cross which Jamie Butler flicked on and Aide Bray drilled the ball into the top left hand corner.

Spencer found themselves back in the game with some good fortune after Royston Aust was awarded a disputed penalty. Danny Box could only push Tim Knight's spot kick into the net.

It wasn't until the first half of extra time that Spencer's goal was breached again with a cross from Jack Goodship that Mike Ward refused to give up on and he turned it back into the box for Dean Fry to finish from just three yards.

The game looked to be going Biddestone's way when, after a great first save from the Box keeper, Aust clipped the ball over the keeper and the two defenders on the line to take the game to a dreaded penalty shoot out. Spencer's keeper Nick Evans produce two great saves to deny Biddestone's Dean Fry and Will Elliott with successful kicks from Tim Knight, Dan King, Antony Jenkins and Barry Holloway seeing the Melksham side home.

On a day that saw five of the planned 16 cup games postponed because of waterlogged pitches, Pack Horse Rangers sprang the biggest surprise when they defeated second division Sutton Benger 3-1.

The fourth division side turned on the style with a magnificent first half performance that saw them take command of the game as firstly Stuart Deacon netted and then Simon Reid's cross come shot sailed home. Reid picked up Andy Pointing's through ball to make it 3-0. Danny Cocker replied for Benger in the second half as they staged a fight back.

First division North Star A, who reached the semi final stages of last year's competition, did enough to see off the challenge of near neighbours Bradstone Rovers, Ronnie Kallmeier's first half strike added to Stuart Riley's second half beauty gave the Star a 2-0 win over their third division opponents.

North Star's second string felt that they deserved more than they got from their game with Christian Malford. Malford had to work extra hard for a place in the final 16, but in the end they overcame a gutsy Star side 2-1. Nick Bloodworth (North Star) and Chris Pitman (Malford) traded goals before Malford's Scott Evans hit what turned out to be the winner.

The Star believed that they had taken the game to extra time but Ashley Lawrence had his goal disallowed for a foul on Malford's keeper. Malford's victory was tinged with sadness as they lost Neil Murray with a suspected broken ankle which saw the game stopped for 30 minutes.

Plough's hopes of causing a cup shock lasted all of 20 minutes against Pig and Whistle United and they knew that all hope had gone when they had Gary Taylor sent off for using foul and abusive language leaving them with 10 men against a very well organised United side who went on to win 4-1. Jeff Hale (2, 1pen), Paul McCarthy and Leigh Stevenson scored for United with Dave Thomas hitting the Plough's consolation.

Sir Audley's Arms and Corsham Park Rangers turned on the style as they served up a classic that saw Rangers come back from three down to tie the game at 3-3 before losing to an injury time strike from substitute Steve Mallard.

Adam O'Keefe and two Dave Nolan goals put the Arms in total control at the break. Leading 3-0 at half time the Arms thought they had it won but Rangers hit back via Gordon Willshire (2) and Warren Jones to draw 3-3. With extra time looming, Mallard struck to claim a fine win over their second division opponents.

A move to midfield for The Horse and Groom's Paul Bendell saw him have little or no influence at all as manager Graham Hunter's new-look formation produced the goods. The Horse defeated Virgin Mobile 4-1 thanks to goals from Tarick Yachou (2), Dave Appleyard and Hunter himself with Ian Standing scoring for Virgin.

Atworth United scored all seven goals as they ended the hopes of White Horse FC with a 6-1 win. Matt Adams, Stuart Holland, Dan Adams (2), Richard George and Mike Hopkins scored. Glen Young headed into his own net for the Horse's consolation.

AC Soho completed a quick fire league and cup double over Southwick Sports. Marcus Young put Soho ahead but Tom Mann levelled.

Kelvin Page regained the lead for Soho, which was erased by Liam Brown. Marcus Young netted Soho's winner after being set up by substitute Luke Stoneham.

WEST Lavington's winning run came to a sudden halt at home to a Biddestone Social side who were able to recall a number of their big name players.

Biddestone welcomed back player/manager John O'Meara and his presence was enough to guide Biddestone to a 2-0 win with Rob Pocock and Jamie Lyons scoring a goal in each half. Pocock's hopeful cross sailed in on six minutes and Pocock feed Lyons in the 88th minute to tap home number two.

Corsham Cricket Club are the new leaders of the premier division after their 6-1 victory over Terry's FC. Dave Kilmurray, who look's to have returned to form, hit his first treble of the season, and singles from Paul Clifford, Chris Jones and Neil Shardlow completed the half dozen. Richard Clarke replied for the losers.

Antony Vizard's goal two minutes from time earned Sherston Town a nail biting 4-3 victory over Dog and Fox Ashley.

Danny Beck's opener for Sherston was cancelled out by goals from Steve Latham and Steve Roddy which gave the Bradford side a 2-1 advantage. Antony Vizard restored parity from the penalty spot.

But Sherston fell behind again as Latham's second of the game made it 3-2 to the Dog and Fox. Jamie Higgs drew Sherston level at 3-3 before Vizard struck his late winner.

Maud Heath Sports remain unbeaten with three wins and a draw following their last 4-2 defeat of All Cannings FC.

James Gales fired Canning in front from the penalty spot but goals from Daylan Gleed (2), Adie Simpkins and Ricky Summers dismissed any challenge from Cannings, who scored their second through Stuart Skinner at the end of the game.

CORSHAM Centre were nowhere near there best when they faced old adversaries Holt FC as they went in search of their 45th consecutive victory.

Having lost to Holt 13-3 when the sides first met in October 2002, Pete Ralph's young chargers have dominated their rivals since that defeat, winning all but one of their encounters, and they drew that 2-2.

Holt approached the game without a number of key players but the Centre welcomed back James Lye after a recent suspension, and his introduction, along with Jack Nicholas at the interval, saw them turn in a better second half performance as they overturned a 1-0 deficit to run out 4-1 victors.

Centre started the game the brighter of the two teams with both Liam Ralph and Scott Lye going close, and on 15 minutes, Holt's keeper Dave Ivermee did well to keep out another Liam Ralph effort.

Midway through the half Holt took the lead against the run of play when Lloyd Kettlety broke clear and finished well from eight yards.

The Centre's Michael Higson crashed a shot into the side netting in the 34th minute, but the rest of the half belonged to Holt as they started to dominate proceedings without ever threatening the Centre's goal.

The Centre performed much better in the second period, and from the off they stretched Holt's defence as they looked for an equaliser which finally arrived in the 53rd minute. Liam Ralph's corner sailed straight into the net to bring the scores level.

Ten minutes later Scott Lye should have put the Centre 2-1 up, but he was denied by Ivermee.

The Centre's pressure paid off in the 65th minute when they took the lead via a superb strike from Craig Gingell.

He controlled the ball well before he thundered the ball beyond a helpless Ivermee. Simon Gray, James Lye and Scott Lye all went close to adding a third for the Centre before Craig Gingell eventually found the net to put the game out of Holt's reach. He headed home a Liam Ralph corner in the 85th minute to make it 3-1.

James Lye, who had missed the past six weeks through suspension, had the final say with the Centre's fourth with a crisp finish from 18 yards in the 90th minute. Centre's win boosted them to the top of the table as they moved above Semington Rovers who were without a match.

KING Alfred's long term injury problems have forced the Chippenham based team to postpone for a second consecutive week, Sunday's unlucky opponents were Parsons Nose.

Last term's division three runners up and the losing WG Parr Trophy finalists of 2003 were almost forced to call it a day, but Jason Cole stepped in at the 11th hour to keep the team running.

AFC Melksham hosted AFC Calne at a very wet and muddy Christie Miller sports fields.

Calne dominated in the first half and went 5-0 up through Ryan Kelleher, Simon Dance (2), and Jason Matthews before Lee Stripe (2) reduced the gap .

Bar OC bounced back from a substandard performance last week with an emphatic 6-1 victory against Wanderers in Melksham. Andy Webster put the home side ahead from the penalty spot and added another soon after.

Bar OC killed the game on 50 minutes when Pete Swales finished from eight yards via the post.

The fourth came soon after Darren Brown found Danny Powell who clipped the ball home from close range.

Bar OC scored again on the hour when Brown's 20 yard drive was blocked and Webster gleefully tapped home the rebound.

Tom Evans made it six three minutes later when he burst through from midfield. Damian Sheppard bagged Wanderers consolation.
