THERE was laughter galore at West Lavington village hall last week as Lavington Amateur Dramatic Society, affectionately known as LADS, performed their latest production.

The Love Nest was a two-act comedy by Raymond Hopkins chronicling the marital difficulties of David and Janet Thompson.

The couple seemed destined for married bliss when they wed 32 years but then Janet's mother, Marjorie, moved in.

When the play opens the relationship has reached an all-time low and, in a last attempt to save their marriage, the couple return to the guesthouse where they spent their honeymoon. Sadly, it all unravels.

The guesthouse is not what it was. Marjorie arrives uninvited. David is pursued by an over-zealous waitress and the whole thing descends into hilarious farce.

Mr Hopkins, whose daughter suffers from multiple sclerosis, attended the opening night last Thursday and is donating royalties from the production to Multiple Sclerosis Research.

LADS decided to put on The Love Nest after achieving success with another of Mr Hopkins' comedies, Love Begins at 50.

The show had a cast of 11 and was directed by Moira Armstrong.
